BUTCH CASSIDY

TRAIL DETAILS

Butch Cassidy is just south of Vernal and winds through a canyon full of unique rock formations emerging above the Green River then moves direction for the top of Asphalt Ridge with an awesome view above Vernal and Split Mountain. You will view vistas from Marsh Peak to the Book Cliffs and then drop down next to the Green River. Along the way you will see natural deposits of tar sands and even places where it is bubbling out of the ground. 

 

**SXS recommended. 4 wheel drive required ** 

 

The Butch Cassidy Trail is the same trail for the Saturday night ride. Rides will depart from the Naples City Park at 9pm
 

 

Scenery

Vernal City from a high vantage point, mountainous canyons  

 

 

Surface

Mainly dirt and cobble rock, steep climbs, and slight off camber terrain.

Difficulty: 6 with several steep loose hills.

Trailering Info

No trailering required. Ride departs from the Western Park Arena. Please park in the designated staging area. See the staging map here. Trailhead is a 5 miles ride.

No restroom facilities are provided on this trail. Please use the facilities at the Western Park Arena before leaving and/or plan accordingly.
